Welcome to the Y



    DID YOU KNOW?  You joined the Y to improve your health, right?  We’ve learned that the sooner you get started after you take out your membership, the better your chances of sticking with your exercise program and gaining all the benefits. So don’t delay!  Call us or introduce yourself to our fitness staff if you want some help to get started.
  • TAKE A TOUR – A Y staff member will take you on a tour of your Y, answer any questions you have and share options with you.  To take a tour, just stop by the Member Service Desk anytime.
  • Y FIT START – If you’ve been thinking about exercising but don’t know where to begin, the Y Fit Start program is for you.  This free program for members is designed for those new to exercising or those who haven’t exercised for some time and want instruction, support and motivation.  Your Y Fit Start coach will help you develop and maintain a physically active lifestyle to meet your own personal needs and goals. Sign up at the Member Service Desk.
  • CHILD WATCH – Do you need someone to look after your children, ages 6 months to 5 years, while you work out?  We’re here for you!  Bring your children for up to 90 minutes per day to the Y Child Watch program where they’ll enjoy creative play in a fun, safe environment.  This is a free service for members.  Check the schedule for open hours of operation.
  • FITNESS EQUIPMENT ORIENTATION - We offer a complimentary orientation for members to learn how to use the cardio and strength equipment.  Check at the Member Service Desk to schedule your appointment.
  • PERSONAL TRAINING - Looking for a new challenge or motivation or maybe you are just starting and want to work with a trainer.  A certified Y Personal Trainer can be just what you need.  Our trainers will help design a program to specifically meet your needs and help you achieve your goals.
  • MEMBER-GET-A-MEMBER – Refer your friends to the Y and if they join, you’ll receive a member reward card for free Y gear.  Visit the Member Service Desk to get a referral form. Check out the full line of items.




  • GROUP EXERCISE – All group exercise programs are free for Y members!  Check the schedule for Spinning, Yoga, Zumba, Boot Camp, Core Training, Cardio Kickboxing, special classes for active older adults and a whole lot more! 
  • PROGRAMS - We have 6-8 program sessions that typically last 8-10 weeks. View our program guide to see current programs. As a member, you receive discounted pricing on programs as well as priority registration. Registration for members begins two weeks prior to the beginning of a session.  Most programs can be registered for online. Some programs may require in-person registration.
  • AQUATICS – YMCA Aquatics is all about safety, skill development and fun for everyone.  We have an aquatic program for every skill level and interest.  Our programs are about more than just skills and techniques:  they are also about building friendships, developing self esteem and creating positive experiences that will last a lifetime.  Please view your branch's schedules page for current information.  (Everyone is required to wear a swim cap.)
  • YOUTH AND FAMILY - The Y wants every member of your family to have a meaningful member experience.  Check the program guide for parent/child programs, youth programs and free family activities.
  • TEENS  - We offer a host of programs for teens age 12 through 17 that promote healthy spirit, mind and body through intellectual, social and recreational activities.  Teens may earn the privilege to utilize the fitness equipment after successful completion of a teen fitness equipment orientation.   Check the schedule for teen fitness center hours.
  • SUMMER DAY CAMP – YMCA Summer Camp is the perfect place for your child to meet new friends, participate in sports and creative arts, explore science and technology, swim, go on field trips, learn about nature, build core values, appreciate culture and diversity, build academic skills and of course – have fun!




  • LOCKER ROOMS - Lockers are available for daily use.  Please remember to bring your own lock and secure your belongings when using the Y.  You can also rent a locker if you’d like to keep your items at the Y. Most branches have a special needs locker room as a good alternative for parents who wish to accompany their child that is over the age of 3 and of the opposite gender. 
  • FITNESS CENTER - The Fitness Center includes a variety of strength and cardio equipment. You are welcome to sign up for a free equipment orientation at the membership desk to learn about the equipment. Teens are required to complete a teen fitness orientation before using the fitness center. 
  • GYM – We offer classes, leagues and open recreation time in our gym. Please view your branch's schedule page for current information.
  • RAQUETBALL, HANDBALL, TRACK – Check with your branch to see if they offer these facilities.




  • YMCA “AWAY” POLICY (Always Welcome At the Y) As a YMCA member you have access to Ys across the country and around the world.   A valid YMCA ID is required for use of AWAY privileges.  Please call ahead to confirm AWAY participation and restrictions.
  • GUEST PRIVILEGES Members are welcome and encouraged to visit Y locations within NYC 10 times per year at no charge. 
  • BRING A FRIEND All YMCA members are given 6 complimentary guest passes per year to help introduce the Y to friends and associates.
