The program was designed to help people overcome the obstacles they have faced in the past like lack of time, lack of support and motivation, feeling uncomfortable in an exercise environment, and confusion as to where and how to begin. Everyone wants to be healthier. But often there are obstacles that keep you from starting — and continuing — an exercise program. Which are your biggest issues?
No matter the obstacles you face, the YMCA’s new 12-week Y Personal Fitness program is designed to support you in building a regular exercise routine by starting slowly, setting realistic goals and figuring out what works best for you, together. Through one-on-one meetings with your Y Personal Fitness Coach, we can help make fitness a priority in your life — by making it enjoyable. We’re committed to supporting you, and best of all, it’s all free with membership. Here’s how it worksWhen you join, you’ll set your initial appointment with your Y Personal Fitness Coach. At that meeting, together you’ll build “My Y Personal Fitness Plan,” and walk through your focus for the next three weeks. You’ll commit to exercising at least 3 days a week at the YMCA on your own schedule, tracking your own attendance. Through three additional one-on-one meetings with your Coach, you’ll gradually add new exercises for cardio and strength training; these small increments will lead to greater success in achieving your fitness goals. After 12 weeks, you should be well on your way to a healthier lifestyle, ready for your fourth meeting with your Coach to explore your next steps to making yourself and your health a priority!
