Water Workout

A high energy, non-impact water aerobic class including strength training and stretching.

Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program

AFYAP is intended to decrease pain and/or stiffness, improve or maintain joint flexibility, increase muscle strength, improve coordination and endurance and give participants an overall sense of well being. Class is performed in shallow water.

Swim Lessons

  • Beginner: This class is for adults who don’t feel at ease in the water or who have never participated in swimming lessons. Non- swimmers are taught basic swimming skills and water safety.
  • Intermediate / Advanced: This is a class for adults who are comfortable in the water and who would like to work on stroke development and endurance. It is perfect for those who have limited swimming skills and who would like to improve their techniques.
  • Deep Water Confidence: For adults who can do basic strokes, such as the paddle stroke and elementary backstroke but are uncomfortable swimming in deep water. The entire course is taught in the deep end, focusing on treading, underwater swimming and jumping in.

Masters Swim Team

Participants should have knowledge of free style, backstroke and breaststroke. The goal is to improve swimming techniques, improve swim time and practice for USMS competitions.

Participants are taught safety and survival skills, accident prevention, guarding techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills, CPR, AED, oxygen administration and first aid in aquatic environments. More than 250 teens and young adults 16 and up achieve YMCA Lifeguard Certification.
