In April 2008, the YMCA of Greater New York named Greg Maziarz as the first Executive Director of the Ridgewood YMCA.

Maziarz brings nine years of YMCA operations and membership experience, including most recently as Associate Executive Director of Brooklyn's Greenpoint YMCA.

A resident of Glendale, Queens, Maziarz credits his BS in Math from Queens College, MBA from St. John’s University, and work in the YMCA’s Executive Leadership Institute as key to his preparation for the responsibility of leading day-to-day operations of a multi-faceted YMCA branch like the Ridgewood YMCA.

“I’m excited to be joining a community so full of energy and endless possibilities,” Maziarz said. “I want the Ridgewood YMCA to be the best it can be. The community will be proud of its YMCA and feel that we’re providing the resources to meet their needs.”

He added that this experience will be critical as he works to enhance the Ridgewood YMCA’s commitment to the health of the community—in spirit, mind and body. “A healthy lifestyle is the most important thing in any community, and we will work to further combat the specific challenges the community faces, including childhood obesity, poor nutrition, diabetes and general inactivity.”
