The Ridgewood YMCA is seeking a Senior Program Director who will assist the Executive Director with Leadership of the day-to-day operations of the Ridgewood YMCA.

Specific areas of responsibility will include management of a program portfolio including Membership, Healthy Lifestyles, Youth and Family, Teen Programming, and off-site funded programs, and supervision of the Property department. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Senior Program Director will be responsible for the overall development, administration, strategic planning, supervision, and evaluation of these departments. Supervision of the Early Childcare program portfolio will be shared. This position will implement the Mission and Vision of the YMCA of Greater New York in the areas of staffing, membership, and volunteer development. At times will oversee all Ridgewood operations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create a positive member experience and serve as a role model for all staff. Work proactively to meet members needs and address questions and concerns. 

  • Analyze membership data and statistics in order to identify trends and make proactive decisions that will drive membership and program growth. 

  • Lead collaboration between membership and program to increase overall participation. 

  • Build the branch value proposition based in program and services in order to grow membership and programs enrollment. 

  • Set annual priority objectives to improve the member experience. 

  • Plan and create new and innovative adult, youth and family programs that meet the needs of the community in keeping with the Branch priority objectives and strategic plan.

  • Analyze community demographics to provide innovative programming that serves the community and identify local marketing opportunities unique to the area. 

  • Research, facilitate, and build quality programs that build member retention and provide member satisfaction.

  • Successfully maintain and continue to improve the quality of all adult, youth, family and senior programming

  • Adhere to Association Early Childcare, Youth and Family, Healthy Lifestyles, Youth Sports, Membership, and Communication standards and guidelines.

  • Train and hold membership staff accountable for handling membership inquiries by telephone and in person. 

  • Responsible for the financial plan and budget for all departments. Meet budget goals and operating net for all departments.

  • Recruit, develop, train, evaluate, and supervise staff and volunteers as well as ensure that staff are properly qualified, and staff expectations are clearly communicated across all departments.

  • Develop and implement effective communication plan between staff and members.

  • Create and execute a strategic plan encompassing all aspects of the promotional mix including advertising, direct marketing, sales promotion, publicity, and personal selling.

  • Create and maintain a high-quality program and service portfolio that meets the current and future needs of members with the financial and human resources available.

  • Provide leadership and facilitate board committee meetings as needed and provide supervision and set direction in Youth and Family, Teen programing, off-site funding, and Early Childhood programs.

  • Ensure all aspects of billing, following up on Accounts Receivables, processing requests for credits and refunds for programs, and processing requests for scholarship.

  • Provide all staff with consistent Youth and Family best practices and new initiatives.

  • Create programs, services, and an atmosphere that meets the needs of the many different ethnic groups in the community.

  • Assist the Executive Director in the administration of the operation and the development, and monitoring of the operational plan.

  • Represent the branch or delegate representation at the Association Office Membership and program cabinet meetings.

  • Provide leadership to the Annual Campaign.

  • Oversight of all Healthy Lifestyles, youth, teen, and family programs.

  • Shared supervision of the Early Childcare Department.

  • Manage program sites and ensure that program goals and outcomes are met in compliance with government contracts.

  • Serve as a liaison with school and community partners.

  • Oversee all reporting to the Association Office, funders, and government contacts.

  • Develop community partnerships that result in strong program content.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director


Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. MS, Med, or MPH in related field preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful operational and management experience in a high-volume urban setting.

  • Proven record of successful fiscal management.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Solid computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must be able to manage self and others in a fast-paced environment.

  • Weekdays, evenings, and weekend availability required.

  • NYC DOH requirement desired.

  • Knowledge of Public Health approach and initiatives desired.
