Corporate Volunteer Opportunities
"The greatest way we as individuals can make a difference in our communities is by using our skills and knowledge to help strengthen nonprofit organizations. Because they value the unique talents that volunteers bring to the table, the YMCA is a great place to start."
CEO, Deloitte LLP and YMCA volunteer and Emeritus Board Member
The Y has a variety of corporate volunteer opportunities. We enable your company to give back to the communities where your people live, work and play. Our corporate volunteer opportunities fall into these categories:
- Provide college and career readiness training
- Offer internships
- Assist with homework
- Mentor a teen
- Coach a team
- Teach others about health and wellness
- Run a cooking class
- Serve on a local branch Board of Managers
- Participate in beautification projects
- Bring your professional skills to bear on Y business
We work with you to make your organization's commitment truly personal. We have a host of volunteer opportunities ready for you. Or, you can craft a team building exercise or volunteer opportunity that resonates deeply with your organization and makes an impact on us.
For example, last summer Con Edison volunteers and Y employees were out in force to cool things down, literally. As part of the NYC Cool Roofs Program, a citywide program to help reduce cooling costs, energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions by applying reflective, white coating to rooftops, a team of volunteers painted the roofs of five YMCA buildings - the Cross Island, Flushing and Long Island City Ys in Queens and the Bedford-Stuyvesant and Prospect Park Ys in Brooklyn. Con Edison was the lead sponsor on the project for the past two years and will be back this year.

For individuals – students or adults - interested in volunteering, please call the main number of the Y location you would like to volunteer with, let them know what you would like to do, and if there are opportunities available, they will direct you to the right person.
