500,000th New Yorker Joins the YMCA of Greater New York in 2012
On Saturday, December 15, the YMCA of Greater New York proudly enrolled its 500,000th participant to the organization in 2012. The program participant, Noemi Toridio, was surprised at the Long Island YMCA by CEO Jack Lund and Ebony Conely-Young, executive director of the Long Island City YMCA with a free city-wide family membership to the Y, as well as a free program for her daughter Kelly. The lobby of the Long Island City YMCA transformed into a festive party complete with balloons, confetti, dancing and banners - just moments after the Toridio's were presented with giant certificates for free access to the Y.
The ceremony marks the first time at the YMCA of Greater New York will exceed half a million participants in annual enrollment.
