Meet NYC’s teenage tech tycoons

There are dynamic teens across New York City creating their own businesses, from Red Hook, Brooklyn, to Jamaica, Queens, and your kids can do it, too. A group of kids from the YMCA in Jamaica received 10 new sewing machines thanks to Amazon.com and PIX11 News. Their creations will be displayed online in conjunction with the YMCA soon, with all proceeds going to support their program. Read more…

Black History Month: Tribune Hosts Awards, Panel Discussion On Feb. 23

The Queens Tribune holds another boroughwide event this year in honor of Black History Month.This year’s honorees include Deputy Borough President Melva Miller, Valerie Stevens, Director of Business Services and Operations for the Jamaica Center Improvement District, Executive Director of YMCA Jamaica Cedric Dew and Detectives Tanya Duhaney and Dorrin Ferguson who have made strides in the 113th Precinct Community Affairs Unit.
