New South Shore addiction center aims to be ‘beacon of hope’

Christopher's Reason Recovery Center is Staten Island's newest addiction outpatient center. Christopher's Reason Recovery Center offers a number of services, including: referrals and assessments to all levels of care; individual and group counseling; grieving peer-run groups; family intervention services; 12-step meetings; monthly overdose training, and more. Drug deactivation pouches: New weapon in war against drugs

The drug epidemic on Staten Island is at an all-time high, and local elected officials are constantly looking for a solution to the ongoing problem. Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals has donated 10,000 drug deactivation pouches, which will provide a safe and responsible means of disposing prescription medicine that is often abused and misused. The pouches will be distributed free through Delco Drugs and Specialty Pharmacy, located at 3833 Richmond Ave., as well as the YMCA's South Shore and North Shore locations. Read more…
