6 free events for kids: St. George Day, Whistlin’ Wolves and more

Staten Island YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day with free community events, featuring activities such as Tae Kwon Do, basketball, swimming, arts & crafts, nutrition information and much more, to motivate and teach families how to develop a healthy routine at home. "We'll encourage kids to stay physically and intellectually active all summer long, and give families tips they can easily replicate at home. Spring break fun for Staten Island kids: Street games, trampolines, art camp

School's out for the week of April 6 and after a long, cold winter, the kids will be itching to get moving and out of the house. The Island culturals have come up with some pretty nifty things to do indoors and out -- for fun, creativity, learning -- but no tests. Chinatown Y offers free Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday

Coming up Sunday, Feb. 22, Chinatown will come alive with this year’s edition of the Lunar New Year Parade. But if you’d like to get an early start in celebrating the Year of the Ram, the Chinatown Y has a free event coming up this Saturday. There will be a lion dance, tea tastings, lantern making and other crafts for kids. The party takes place from noon-4 p.m. at the YMCA’s Lower East Side facility, 273 Bowery.
