Specialty Aquatics

Some of our branches offer additional aquatics programs including lifeguard preparation, stroke clinics, synchronized swimming, and gym and swim.

Gym and Swim

This program is for parents and children (6-36 months) and preschoolers (3-5 years) links land (gym) and water (swim) classes for convenience.

Competitive Skills & Drills

In this class we build stamina and improve mastery of the four competitive strokes: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. We offer a variety of workouts with an instructor on deck. Workouts swim an average of about 1,000 to 2,000 yards. The lanes vary by the swimmers' ability and speed. Teen Stroke Clinic is not a "learn to swim" program, but we do offer the opportunity for all levels to receive instruction on technique.

Adult Stroke Clinic

Synchronized Swimming

Introduction to synchronized swimming skills and developing routines based on skills taught in YMCA Swim Lesson program. Participants need to swim at a Minnow level and be comfortable in and under the water. This offers an alternative to lap swimming and builds team work and life-long skills in the water.

Lifeguard Preparation

So you want to take a lifeguard course. Learn the skills needed for the Lifeguard prerequisite test. Lifeguard preparation is not a "learn to swim" program, but we do offer the opportunity to improve current skill working on the lifeguard prerequisites.
